Handicap International Afghanistan works in the Southern (Kandahar and Helmand), Western (Herat) and Central (Kabul) regions of Afghanistan, which covers more than half of the people with disabilities in the country. Handicap International in Afghanistan currently operates projects both through local partners and directly, these are managed by about 200 national staff and 6 expatriates in three locations, two bases (Kandahar and Heart) and Kabul main office.

Under the direct supervision of the South Asia Desk officer in Lyon, the Programme Director represents HI in Afghanistan and manages the program team to ensure correct implementation of the organisation's mandate.


Your main responsibilities:


· Represent HI and promote its mandate in the country of intervention


· Draft and ensure the implementation of the programme's Country/Regional Programme Framework (CPF)


· Ensure the implementation of a security system on the programme


· Manage the programme's teams · Manage the programme's internal and external communication




Candidate profile: 


· University degree in political science, management, development studies.


· 4/5 years professional experience in management/ coordination functions and developing projects including experience of team management and project engineering-related issues.


· At least 3 years experience in development/humanitarian work.


· Experience in emergency response activities


· Excellent analytical, planning, organizing and task priorisation skills.


· Excellent communication skills both oral and in writing; capacity to listen, responsiveness and diplomacy.


· Ability to work within a multi-cultural team



Required language skills: 

English - fluent spoken and written level
