London, 3 & 4 December 2014  -  As part of instilling positive, long-lasting change in Afghanistan, Afghan civil society are now, more than ever, looking towards the future. Ayenda, meaning ‘future’ in Dari, not only encompasses Afghan civil society's views as to how a just and peaceful Afghanistan can be achieved, but also provides a platform for discussion of these with international policy makers. 
The Ayenda Conference was an associate event of the London Conference on Afghanistan
57 Afghan civil society delegates joined the Ayenda Conference from 29th of November until 5th of December. appr. 250 people attended.  3 Afghan civil society delegates made speeches in the plenary of the ministerial London Conference on Afghnaistan on the 4th of December.  10 Afghan civil society delegates and ENNA participated in a 1 hour round table with Afghan CEO Abdullah Abdullah, UK Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening,  EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica and other heads of delegation from other donor countries on the morning of the 4th of December.
Presented and discussed were the policy priorities of the Afghan and International civil cociety.

The Ayenda conference was:

$1·         An opportunity for Afghan civil society, including women’s organisations, to state their recommendations on development priorities in Afghanistan on a national stage.

$1·         An opportunity for Afghan civil society’s critical role in the country’s governance, economic development, protection of rights, and poverty reduction to be recognised by the Afghan government and its international partners.

$1·         An opportunity to strengthen partnerships between Afghan civil society, the Afghan government, and international partners.

The Ayenda conference was an associate event of the London Conference on Afghanistan (LCA) which was co-hosted by the British Government and Afghan Governments on 4th December 2014. It was the first conference of such scale between the international community and the new Afghan Government focusing on development in Afghanistan.

The Ayenda conference was organised by BAAG - British & Irish Agencies Afghanistan Group - with support from the following organisations:
